Aikikai Foundation

Aikido is a Budo (martial art) created by Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei. After the Founder's passing in 1969, his son Kisshomaru Ueshiba was inaugurated as Aikido Doshu. At present, Moriteru Ueshiba, grandson of the Founder, has succeeded his father as Aikido Doshu.  His son, Mitsuteru Ueshiba Sensei, will follow as his successor.

Officially recognized by the Japanese government in 1940, the Aikikai Foundation, located in Tokyo, Japan, is the parent organization for the development and popularization of Aikido throughout the world. Under the leadership of Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu, instructors are teaching Aikido according to the ideals of the Founder (Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei) to students in Japan and throughout the world. The headquarters dojo of the Aikikai is Aikido Hombu Dojo (Aikido World Headquarters), located in Tokyo, Japan.
